Missing You

Over my lifetime, I have lost many whom I loved. This poem is about missing those who have gone to Heaven.

Missing You

My beloved grandfather, Edward Chapman

I can still hear your voice in my memories.

I can still see your smile in my dreams.

Although it’s been years since you faded away.

My grandmother Fluharty

I wish there was a way, I could have helped you to stay.

But I know it is unreasonable, it’s not God’s way.

My mother and father Barbabra and Hank Fluharty

Cherishing recollections of you,  stream into my mind every day.

I wish I could tell you; I love you one more time.

Having you again would be glorious, I crave there was a way.

But God had his intentions for you, whatever they may be.

My beloved fur babies Fred and Leelee

Sometimes it appears like you are here with me, it seems.

Those are the times when I think of you repeatedly and dream

What it would be like if God hadn’t chosen you.

I speculate, if you knew me today, what would you say?

Memories of you, I carry in my heart,

They will consistently be a part of me.

  1. Such a beautiful poem for those departed from us in person, but live forever in our hearts.
