Poem: Face Your Shadow

In the hush where silence sways,
A darker self begins to raise—
Not evil, no, but brushed in gray,
The part you hide, but must not stray.

It walks behind in every light,
A ghost at noon, a howl at night.
It mirrors the pain you never speak,
The anger quiet, the heart has grown weak.

You turn from it with hurried breath,
Mistake its presence as your death.
But shadows form from light’s own grace,
A truth you fear to now embrace.

Look deep into its waiting eyes,
You’ll find no tricks, no thin disguise.
It is the wound, the lost, the scar—
Yet also shows you who you are.

The things you buried, hurt and wild,
Still, live within your inner child.
And when you face them, name them whole,
You stitch together soul with soul.

So face your shadow—do not flee.
It’s not your end, but you’re becoming free.
In dancing with the dark, you dread,
You learn to live where angels tread.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
