Poem: Take the High Road

When tempers flare and skies turn grey,
And peace feels miles and miles away,
When silence cuts more than a sword,
Take the high road—speak no harsh word.

When pride would shout, “You’ve been betrayed!”
And vengeance calls, half-masked, half-played,
Let dignity be your reply—
Take the high road, walk it high.

Not every fight is yours to win,
Not every jab deserves a spin,
Some strength is shown in letting go,
In choosing grace, not stooping low.

Though stones may fly and shadows sneer,
And coward hearts may call you “queer,”
Hold fast to truth, be calmly bold—
Take the high road, pure and cold.

It winds through silence, winds through pain,
Through loss that echoes like the rain,
But standing tall, with soul intact,
You’ll find there’s power in how you act.

So when the world would drag you down,
And bitterness would see you drown,
Look up, breathe deep, and rise above—
Take the high road. Lead with love.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,
