Poem: Don’t Let life Pass you By

Don’t let life pass you by
like a train you meant to catch
but watched instead—
hands in pockets,
eyes full of “maybe later.”

This moment is not a rehearsal.
There is no quieter version coming,
no perfect lighting,
no day where you finally feel ready
enough to begin.

Call the friend.
Take the road.
Say the thing that trembles
at the edge of your tongue.

Because time does not pause
for second thoughts—
it moves, steady and indifferent,
collecting all the chances
you almost took.

And one day
“almost” grows heavy.

So step forward—
even unsure, even afraid—
let your heartbeat be louder
than your hesitation.

Life is happening now.
Not someday.
Not when you’ve figured it all out.

Now—
before it slips quietly past
and becomes
a story you wish
you had lived.

Thank-you for reading,

Brenda Marie
