It’s April first and you all know what that means. It’s the first day of The National Poetry Month Challenge. The challenge is to write a poem a day. They have writing prompts. The writing prompt for today was to find an art photo and write a poem about it. I had a lot of fun with this challenge. I found the perfect photo and wrote a wonderful poem about it. The dragon and the Fairies.
The dragon and the Fairies
A young dragon of white and good
The dragon appeared not perceive its authentic nature.
It had plenty of devotion in its soul.
The dragon was loving and skilled.
She was a poet with extraordinarily insufficient confidence in her craft.
But was timid and uncertain in her displays to be discovered.
The humble little dragon lost its way.
The dragon came to contact many fairies on her quest.
She recognized she was not the best.
But her poetry came from the heart.
They could understand her loving and healing energy
In every chronicle, she conceived.
The fairies never laughed.
The fairies recognized the refinement in the dragon’s messages.
They encouraged her to break free of her anxieties.
The fairies talked her into sharing
The energy of her spirit composing with them.
The fairies pushed the dragon to flourish.
They supported her to recognize all that she could be.
Without all her fairy companions, the dragon
Would have given up her fight.

What a beautiful poem! The dragon reminds me of you, supported by the faeries.
Yes, it was written about some amazing writer friends I met when I forst started writing online. Most of them I am still friends with today.
What a sweet poetic story…variations of which, play out here on WordPress quite often:):)
Yes, I know, I have some dear fairy friends who helped me when I first started writing.
Great start for your first year of NaPoWriMo! Looking forward to reading more! <3
Thank-you so much dear
I love Writing Through the Soul and would a whimsical poem! I can’t think of poems to do a monthly challenge, they just sort of come to me when I’m not really thinking about it. Sometimes I see a photo or something I see around and a poem comes to me.
Thank-you Martha. Poetry kind of comes to me. For me, it’s my favorite form of writing. Everyone has their gifts. I love you cooking stuff.
thank-you dear
Good work! I can’t join the challenge this time around-maybe next time. I will need to plan for it.
You should try it, it’s lots of fun
Fairy power overcomes!
Something like that. I just thought it was a cute poem
