The dragon and the Fairies

It’s April first and you all know what that means. It’s the first day of The National Poetry Month Challenge. The challenge is to write a poem a day. They have writing prompts. The writing prompt for today was to find an art photo and write a poem about it. I had a lot of fun with this challenge. I found the perfect photo and wrote a wonderful poem about it. The dragon and the Fairies.

The dragon and the Fairies

The dragon and the Fairies

A young dragon of white and good

The dragon appeared not perceive its authentic nature.

It had plenty of devotion in its soul.

The dragon was loving and skilled.

She was a poet with extraordinarily insufficient confidence in her craft.

But was timid and uncertain in her displays to be discovered.

The humble little dragon lost its way.

The dragon came to contact many fairies on her quest.

She recognized she was not the best.

But her poetry came from the heart.

They could understand her loving and healing energy

In every chronicle, she conceived.

The fairies never laughed.

The fairies recognized the refinement in the dragon’s messages.

They encouraged her to break free of her anxieties.

The fairies talked her into sharing

The energy of her spirit composing with them.

The fairies pushed the dragon to flourish.

They supported her to recognize all that she could be.

Without all her fairy companions, the dragon

Would have given up her fight.

  1. I love Writing Through the Soul and would a whimsical poem! I can’t think of poems to do a monthly challenge, they just sort of come to me when I’m not really thinking about it. Sometimes I see a photo or something I see around and a poem comes to me.
