Colleen M. Chesebro has a weekly tanka challenge on her website Word Craft Poetry.  This week’s challenge is to write a tanka to go with the lovely photo above by Terri Webster Schrandt. Every time I do this challenge, I have to use Colleen’s cheat sheet or her book

I love writing poetry, but freestyle is my favorite. Syllabic poetry has always been somewhat of a challenge for me.  But, I love a challenge. So here we go.
