This year did not start off well for my family. We were all sick over the holidays. So much so we did not even celebrate them this year. It was a sad start. It’s bad when the lady of the house can’t even hardly move. Thanks to a dear friend of mine for helping my family through it.
A very special gift was given to my family in February. You see four years before I had lost a special friend, my dear sweet basset dachshund, Fred. I had always wanted a basset hound. And, was perfect. Fred was old when we got him 14. I only had him for one year and eleven months. But, he really put a mark on my heart. How could you not fall in love with those eyes.

No other dog would be able to fill the hole Fred left in my heart. It took some time before I even though I wanted another dog. After all, I still had Bella. She was 12 years when I started to think maybe I wanted another dog.

One night I had a dream about Fred. He told, me he saw coming back to me and even showed me in what form he would be coming back to me in. Imagine my surprise when it was a female long hair black mountain dachshund.

It’s she a little ray of sunshine. That was what we called her at first, Sunshine. It was the nickname my grandfather called me when I was young.

This little mountain dachshund acted too much like a human to have a name like Sunshine. She needed a better name to fit her. Freeda after my dear, sweet, beloved basset dachshund Fred. We call her Freedom Freeda, now.

This little devil of a dog came in a stole my heart. She has big shoes to fill though.

She took over all the toys. Poor Bella!

But Freeda is so cute!

She even took over the bones.

Bella’s blankets, too.

Freeda is now seven months old. Freeda and Bella get along like mother and daughter now. Freeda the little devil puppy is the only dog, who could have ever healed my heart from losing Fred.
Much love and light,
Brenda Marie
