Guardian of the Woods
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an eerie glow over the dense forest. A group of friends, Sarah, Mark, Emily, and Jake, had decided to embark on a camping trip deep within the heart of the wilderness. They had heard tales of the supernatural, but dismissed them as mere legends, eager to experience the thrill of camping under the stars.
As they set up their tents, a chilling breeze swept through the trees, causing the leaves to rustle ominously. Sarah shivered, feeling a sense of unease settle over her. Ignoring her instincts, she joined her friends around the crackling campfire, hoping the warmth would dispel her growing anxiety.
As the night wore on, strange sounds echoed through the forest. The distant hoot of an owl seemed to carry an eerie message, while the rustling of leaves became more frequent and closer. The group exchanged nervous glances, their laughter fading into uneasy silence.
Suddenly, a blood-curdling scream pierced the night. Emily, frozen in terror, pointed towards the darkness. The others turned their heads, their hearts pounding in their chests. Emerging from the shadows was a figure, tall and gaunt, with glowing red eyes that seemed to pierce their souls.
Fear gripped their hearts as the figure drew closer, its footsteps echoing ominously. Mark, the bravest of the group, stepped forward, his voice trembling. “Who are you? What do you want?” he demanded, his voice barely above a whisper.
The figure let out a chilling laugh, sending shivers down their spines. “You have trespassed into my domain,” it hissed, its voice filled with malice. “I am the guardian of these woods, and you shall pay the price for your intrusion.”
Terrified, the friends huddled together, their minds racing for a way to escape. But the figure seemed to anticipate their every move, blocking their path with an otherworldly speed. Panic consumed them as they realized there was no escape from this supernatural entity.
As the figure closed in, Sarah’s eyes fell upon a small amulet hanging from a nearby tree branch. Desperation fueled her actions as she snatched it, clutching it tightly in her trembling hands. With a surge of courage, she held the amulet towards the figure, its glow intensifying.
A deafening screech filled the air as the figure recoiled, its red eyes flickering with fear. The amulet emitted a blinding light, forcing the entity to retreat into the darkness. The friends watched in awe as the figure vanished, leaving behind an eerie silence.
Breathing heavily, they realized they had narrowly escaped a terrifying fate. They packed their belongings in haste, eager to leave the cursed woods behind. As they drove away, the moon disappeared behind a thick blanket of clouds, as if hiding the secrets of the forest.
Years later, the friends still shudder at the memory of that fateful camping trip. They warn others to stay away from those haunted woods, forever haunted by the chilling encounter with the guardian of the forest, a reminder that some legends are far from mere tales.

This is SO well-written!! I love it. I don’t normally like scary stories, but the ending, and the great writing, made it totally worth it.
Thank-you so much
