I have been an energy healer for almost thirty years. Using the Universal energies to help heal the Earth, myself, pets, and other people. To me these energies are magic. After all Magic is only science that has not been proven or discovered, yet. My energy healing all started with Reiki.
Over the years I have realized many people do not even have a basic understanding of Reiki. Some people think Reiki is complicated, but it’s not. People practice Reiki for two reason spiritual growth and/or healing.

Reasons People Practice Reiki
Reiki is a form of natural healing that uses Universal energy to help heal the body’s ailments. The more Reiki is practiced, the stronger the flow of the energy becomes. Reiki is practiced for many different reasons. Reiki is a spiritual practice, but it is not a religion. Reiki practitioners do utilize meditation and other spiritual practices to help strengthen and control the flow of the energies. Some people practice Reiki, only for spiritual growth and understanding. Reiki teaches Universal love and oneness. It is though the more one practices Reiki, the stronger the flow of Universal flow of energy becomes worldwide.
Reiki can also be practiced for healing purposes. The universal energies remove spiritual blockages and cleanse the chakras. Once the chakras are free from blockages the energy flows better making one healthier.
Reiki for Self-Healing
For you to gain the depth of the knowledge of Reiki’s self-healing process, you must devote time to practice. If you have your spirit, mind, and heart in Reiki, you will surely succeed. The Reiki system of self-healing is best done by regularly allotting at least 30 minutes to yourself. You may use either the scanning or hand positions as your technique. Your focus should be on those regions that require healing the most.
Let your intuition carefully guide you on where to place your hands and which body parts to touch as the session begins.. Feel everything that you are doing. Let the energy flow and feel it vibrating.
While the session is going on, let your mind wander on your daily activities and where your life is heading. It is by thinking over life your quest for self-healing produces a great impact. This is a kind of technique promotes the development of a healthy attitude. This type of self-reflection will give your mind room for creative ideas and solutions to your problems.
A Large Part of Reiki is Meditation
A Large Part of Reiki is Meditation. Reiki and meditation go hand in hand. Meditation is a basic concept in all Reiki forms. Meditation is also used in many other forms of light work. In order to do any form of Reiki, you have to know how to meditate. Meditation is not as difficult as some people many think. The thing with meditation is there are millions upon millions of ways to meditate. Each form of Reiki teaches different ways to meditate. Different Reiki Masters may teach the same form of Reiki but teach their students different ways of meditation.
Meditation From Simple to Complex
Meditation has a wide range from simple to complex. There are very easy ways to meditate. You may not realize it, but you probably meditate. Have you ever found yourself zoning out when you were doing something? Well, zoning out came be considered a very simple form of meditation.
The other side of this is the shaman in the sweat lodge who goes through a long ritual. He or she may go through a long cleansing process, deep breathing, saging and other processes in order to meditate.

Meditate in Ways that Work for You
You have to meditate in a way that works for you. Finding your ways to meditate may not be easy, it is a trial and error type of thing. There are millions of ways to meditate. People can help you by explaining simple techniques. Gazing into the flame of a candle or at a body of water, are both simple meditation techniques. The bottom line is that you have to find a way to meditate that works for you. You have to discover for yourself what put you in your own Zen.
Practicing Reiki helps in many different areas of one’s life. Besides being an amazing spiritual growth, Reiki practice, Reiki has many health benefits. Reiki can be very beneficial for personal growth and understanding. Reiki helps reduce stress. Reiki teaches you how to calm both the mind and the body, helping you understand your spirit better. Reiki helps you to become more self-aware. You can also do a lot of self-healing by practicing Reiki. Every time the Universal energies flow through you, you are healing yourself.
In some spiritual health practices, it is believed that most sicknesses come from blocked or stagnant energy in the chakras. Reiki teaches you how to remove these energy blockages and get your energies flowing again. Removing energy blockages may take more than one Reiki treatment, depending on the size and reason for the blockages. Some blockages are caused by major trauma can take many sessions to heal.
Once these blockages are cleared out, you will not believe how great you feel.
I hope this article gave you a better understanding of Reiki and why people practice this form of energy healing.

Sweet overview of Reiki.
There was a lot of synchronicity in how Reiki came to me 34 years ago – and I’ve been blessed to meet Phyllis Furomoto and play harp for a meditation she led at one of our PNW Reiki gatherings! And years later, to participate in zoom calls with her and other Masters around the world.
I have several friends who were initiated by her grandmother, who brought Reiki to the West, and love all the stories and facets of this gift of Reiki.
Wow, I am honored by you sharing your story.
What a detailed explain Brenda, thank you for all the information. I never know the entire process of Reiki!
Thank-you Martha.
I love Reiki! So I am glad you are helping more people discover it. It’s energy is so gentle, yet powerful. Kind, even.
That is so true.
I keep hearing about Reiki, but this is the first time that I got a better sense of what it meant. I might have to dig in a bit further!
I will be posting more about it and I have other articles about Reiki.
Interesting post, thank you for explaining what Reiki is all about. To me it is one of many techniques like Shiatsu or Craniosacral Therapy that I don’t know a whole lot about but actually benefitted from at some point in time.
I am definitely at a beginner level, but hey, if gazing into an open fire or the waves at the beach may be called meditation, then I am on my way!
That is so true. Much love
