Poem: No Mother

When my mother was on her deathbed, there was one person that broke my heart more than any other.  That was my grandmother.  I couldn’t take seeing her watch my mother fade away. No mother should have to watch their child die.

No Mother Should Have to Watch their child Die

No mother should have to watch their child die,
On this truth, we can all imply.
The bond between mother and child, so deep,
A love that is lasting, always to keep.

Yet, in this world of darkness and despair,
Some mothers face a burden too heavy to bear.
Their children, taken, too soon from this earth,
Leaving behind sorrow, pain, and hurt.

No mother should have to feel such sorrow,
To bury their child today and tomorrow.
The overwhelming grief that fills their heart,
Leaving them shattered, torn apart.

In their eyes, you can see the pain,
An agony that feels forever sustained.
The empty chair, forever unfulfilled,
The smile and laughter, forever stilled.

No mother should have to question why,
Their child was chosen to say goodbye.
Innocence lost, a life cut short,
Leaving scars that can never be fought.

Their cries go unheard by the heavens above,
As they yearn for their child’s warmth and love.
But oh, the strength that lies within,
A mother’s love, forever keen.

Through the tears, they find the power,
To keep their child’s memory in a sacred bower.
Their spirits rise, though heavy their hearts,
Finding solace in the love that never departs.

No mother should have to bear this pain,
Yet, somehow, they rise and remain.
Their love carries on, in every beat,
Even though their hearts ache, they find strength to meet.

So let us stand beside them, hand in hand,
Supporting them as they navigate this land.
For no mother should have to watch their child die,
But in their love, their child will forever lie.

Now, with everything I am  going through, no mother should have to live in fear of their only son.

No Mother Should Have to Live in Fear of Her Son

No mother should fear,
Her only son’s path unclear.
Yet, plagued by worry and disbelief,
She trembles in sorrow, seeking relief.

The innocence of youth once bright,
Now enveloped in shadows of the night.
A gentle soul led astray,
Leaving a mother’s heart in disarray.

A son, once full of hopes and dreams,
Now caught up in life’s treacherous schemes.
She sees his face, once filled with glee,
Now etched with pain, for all to see.

Late nights filled with silent tears,
As she prays for a future without fears.
Her heart aches, her spirit dampened,
As she wonders where his life has darkened.

Remembering the days of laughter,
When joy flowed like a gentle rafter.
Her only desire, to see him thrive,
To break this cycle and truly come alive.

No mother should endure this pain,
To see her son’s potential wane.
She clings to hope, a flickering light,
Guiding him towards a peaceful flight.

With unwavering love as her guide,
She refuses to let his spirit subside.
No matter the dangers that lie in wait,
Her motherly love will never abate.

For amidst the fear and uncertainty,
She remains steadfast, a pillar of loyalty.
Her heart still echoes a mother’s love,
As she faces the unknown, side by side, hand in glove.

No mother should bear this weight alone,
Together they’ll face the battles unknown.
Bound by the unbreakable bond they share,
Her love a constant, always aware.

No mother should live in fear,
Her son’s journey she’ll help steer.
With strength and courage, they’ll move ahead,
As she protects her son, her heart well-fed.

For no matter the trials they’ll face,
A mother’s love will never erase.
She’ll always be there in times of distress,
Guiding her son towards happiness.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and light,

Brenda Marie
