Poem: The Importance of Self-Care

In this bustling world, so full of strife,
It’s easy to forget the essence of life.
In the constant rush, there’s little time to spare,
But amidst it all, one thing we must declare:

The importance of self-care, oh so true,
For without it, we’re lost, feeling worn and blue.
It’s not a luxury, reserved for the elite,
But a necessity, for the ground beneath our feet.

It’s a mindful pause, a moment to reflect,
To nourish our souls, to reconnect.
To listen to our bodies, their whispers and cues,
And respond with love, refusing to abuse.

Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s an act of love,
To cultivate peace, like a soaring dove.
For how can we give, if we’re running on empty?
It’s time we prioritize ourselves, plenty.

Self-care is an art, unique to each individual,
A dance of balance, both spiritual and physical.
It’s taking time for hobbies, for laughter and fun,
And recognizing that we deserve to be number one.

It can be a warm bath, candles softly lit,
Or a walk in nature, to clear our mind of grit.
It’s saying no when overwhelmed, setting boundaries clear,
And surrounding ourselves with those who lift and cheer.

Self-care is medication for our weary souls,
A gentle reminder that we are in control.
It’s taking time to breathe, to find inner peace,
And to fill up our cup, so that it never sees decrease.

So let us not forget, in the chaos of our days,
To tend to ourselves, in loving, mindful ways.
For self-care is the foundation of a life well-lived,
Leaving us rejuvenated, inspired, and uplifted.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie
