Poem: Missing Your Guidance

Missing the talks with my grandfather. Almost 30 years without him and not a day goes by I don’t think of him.  I have been doing some deep soul searching. That was when I needed him the most.

Poem: Missing Your Guidance

Without your guidance, I feel lost.
Adrift in a sea of uncertainty
My compass broken, my path unclear.
I long for your hand to steer me.

Your wisdom, like a beacon in the night

Guiding me through the darkest storm
You always knew just what to say
To help me weather life’s norm.

But now I stand alone, without your light.
Feeling my way through the darkness
Hoping for a sign, a glimpse of hope
That you’ll return to guide me through this mess.

I miss your presence, your comforting voice
Your words of encouragement and cheer.
I hope one day, you’ll come back to me
And lead me once again, my sunshine.

Until then, I’ll stumble through the dark
Fumbling in the shadows of doubt.
But I’ll keep your memories closest to my heart
And trust that someday, you’ll turn back around.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and light,

Brenda Marie

  1. Aww, that’s beautiful.
Just the other day I had a dream, I visited my grandparents, both have passed away over the course of the last 15+ years. In my dream they were alive and cheerful, and it was so nice to see them. I hope you can “uphold” your connection as well.

    1. I have always believed my grandfather is my guardian angel and guides me through my life. He loved my poetry and I have thought, many times to stop writing poetry and do something else. But, poetry keeps calling me back. I believe it’s because of my grandfather’s love for it.

  2. This is such a beautiful poem! It’s your heart in writing. I hope that writing it helped you feel closer to your grandfather.
