Poem: Breaking the Ego

The ego stands, a fortress high,
A mask we wear, a constant lie,
It whispers power, it shouts of pride,
But in its shadow, truths collide.

It builds its walls with brittle clay,
Afraid that light might break its sway,
It holds its ground, it guards the mind,
Yet leaves the soul so lost, confined.

But deep within, a voice will rise,
A quiet knowing, a bright surprise,
That says, “You are more than this disguise,
You are the truth that never dies.”

And so the ego starts to break,
Like ice that melts beneath the lake,
The walls begin to crack and fall,
Revealing the light inside us all.

No longer bound by prideful chains,
The heart steps free from ego’s reigns,
With every shard that fades away,
A deeper peace begins to stay.

For in the silence, we become,
A part of all, no longer numb.
The ego shatters, but what remains
Is love, and light, and endless gains.

Breaking the ego, we are free,
To simply be, to truly see,
That in our hearts, we are the same—
A spark of truth, beyond the name.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie
