They Didn’t Make a Fool Out of Me
They whispered lies, with smiles so sweet,
Tangled words beneath their feet,
But I saw through their polished disguise,
The truth reflected in their eyes.
They laughed as if I couldn’t see,
The games they played so carelessly.
But I stood firm, unbroken, whole,
No puppet strings, no loss of soul.
They tried to push me to the edge,
To make me fall, to break my pledge,
But like a stone that can’t be moved,
I rose again, my strength improved.
They thought they’d bend me, make me small,
But they forgot—I’m standing tall.
Their tricks, their jests, their whispered plea—
They didn’t make a fool of me.
For wisdom comes in quiet ways,
In knowing the truth and breaking haze.
I’ve learned their games, I’ve seen the scheme,
And now I walk beyond their dream.
So let them laugh, let them pretend,
I’ll smile and watch it twist and bend.
For in the end, they cannot see,
They didn’t make a fool of me.
Thank-you for reading.
Much Love and Light,
Brenda Marie
