Poem: The Sound of Emptiness

The Sound of Emptiness

In the quiet, still and deep,
Where shadows fall and secrets sleep,
A hollow breath, a whispered sigh,
The sound of emptiness drifts by.

It isn’t loud, nor sharp, nor clear,
But a presence felt when none are near,
A space between the heartbeats’ trace,
Where silence echoes in empty space.

No voice, no footstep, no soft hum,
Just the vastness, where thoughts succumb,
A void that stretches wide and far,
A place where dreams and longing are.

It’s not the absence of a sound,
But the absence that will not be found,
A quiet that holds everything yet, none,
The echo of what’s lost, undone.

It hums beneath the still of night,
A fading star, a fading light,
The emptiness that fills the soul,
A sound that makes the silence whole.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie
