A Long Way From Home
I stand beneath a foreign sky,
Where stars I don’t recognize lie.
The winds that blow, they speak a tongue
I’ve never heard, I’ve never sung.
The streets are strange, the faces new,
A world that feels both bright and blue.
And though my feet have wandered far,
I search for traces of where you are.
The roads are endless, winding long,
The path is quiet, but feels so wrong.
For in this place, I feel alone,
A soul adrift, a heart unknown.
The mountains rise, the rivers call,
But none of this feels like home at all.
I dream of places I have known,
The comfort found in love’s soft tone.
Yet still I walk, through dusk and dawn,
A long way from the place I’ve gone.
For every step, though far it seems,
Is closer to the land of dreams.
And in my heart, a whisper grows,
That even distant winds may know—
That though I’m far, though miles may roam,
The journey leads me back to home.
Thank-you for reading.
Much Love and Light,
