Poem: Inner Child

The young girl inside is crying to come out,
Buried beneath the layers of doubt.
She tugs at the walls of a heart grown cold,
Longing for a freedom she once used to hold.

Her laughter, once wild, now fades in the dark,
A flicker of joy, a forgotten spark.
She whispers through shadows, a voice so small,
But the world keeps her silent, and she feels so small.

She used to run barefoot in fields of gold,
Now she hides behind a story that’s been told.
The weight of the years, the burdens she wore,
Left her chasing dreams she can’t reach anymore.

But deep in her chest, there’s a fluttering sound,
A yearning, a call that’s longing to be found.
The young girl inside is crying to break free,
To dance in the sunlight and just simply be.

To laugh without fear, to cry without shame,
To feel the pure joy of just playing a game.
She’s there in the silence, her spirit alive,
Wishing the world would let her survive.

Oh, let her emerge, let her run through the door,
For the young girl inside is calling for more.
A life without barriers, a heart that can soar,
The young girl inside—she’s waiting for more

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and light,

Brenda Marie
