Poem: Shadows of the Pain

Shadows of the Pain

In the silence, the shadows creep,
Whispers of sorrow I cannot keep.
They dance in the corners, dark and long,
A haunting echo, a silent song.

The weight of the past, heavy and cold,
Tells tales of a heart that’s grown too old.
Each step a reminder, each breath a strain,
As I walk alone with the shadows of pain.

The wounds are faded but never gone,
Like scars that linger when the light is drawn.
In every smile, there’s a tear unsaid,
In every hope, a fear ahead.

Yet still, through the dark, I find my way,
Not by the light, but the strength of the gray.
For shadows are not always to flee,
Sometimes, they’re the only company we see.

And though the pain may cloud the day,
I’ll wear the shadows, come what may.
For in their depth, I find the truth,
That even in sorrow, there’s strength in youth.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and light,

Brenda Marie
