Poem: Don’t Get Caught in the False Light

Don’t get caught in the false light’s shine,
It dazzles quick, but it isn’t divine.
It flashes loud with a lover’s kiss,
Then vanishes into the mist.

It paints the world in sugar and chrome,
But leaves you hollow when you’re alone.
It sells you dreams for a heavy cost,
And laughs behind you when you’re lost.

It knows your hunger, knows your fight,
It knows just how to look like right.
But right is quiet, deep and slow,
Not the glare that wants to show.

So when you see that blinding glow,
Ask yourself what lies below.
The truest things don’t beg the eye—
They live where shadows learn to die.

Follow the light that’s soft and true,
That burns with time, not just for view.
Let others chase the neon night—
But you, don’t get caught in the false light.

Thank-you for reading.

Much love and Light,

Brenda Marie Fluharty
