Poem: Stillness in the Chaos

In the hush between the hammer’s fall,
Where silence hides behind the wall,
A breath is held, a moment stays—
The world still turns, yet slips away.

Sirens scream and cities burn,
The gears of time grind, twist, and churn,
But in the storm’s relentless sound,
A single drop will meet the ground.

A child laughs in shattered streets,
A flower cracks the concrete’s teeth,
A gaze meets sky and dares to dream,
While fires dance and engines scream.

Stillness is not an absence here,
But presence sharp and crystal-clear—
The calm within the flood’s advance,
The eye that watches every chance.

Not all who pause are overcome,
Some hearts are drums that never drum,
Yet beat with steady, quiet grace—
A lighthouse lit in frantic space.

So in the chaos, find your stone,
The place where you can stand alone,
And though the storm may steal your voice,
In stillness, make your silent choice.

Thank-you for reading.

Much love and Light,

Brenda Marie Fluharty
