Poem: The Healing Begins

The Healing Begins

Not with thunder, not with flame,
Not with someone calling your name.
But softly, like the morning air—
The healing comes, because you care.

It does not rush, it does not shout,
It does not chase the shadows out.
It simply stands, when all else fades,
A quiet light the dark can’t shade.

It starts when tears are not denied,
When pain no longer has to hide.
When breath is deep, and hands unclench,
And silence doesn’t feel so tense.

It starts when you no longer run,
From all the things you wish undone.
When shame begins to lose its weight,
And sorrow learns to sit and wait.

The healing comes with every choice—
To trust again, to find your voice.
To stitch with love what’s come apart,
To let the soft back into heart.

So let it come, this tender tide,
No need to chase, no need to guide.
Just be the space where grace can live—
The healing comes when you forgive.

Thank-you for reading.

Much love and Light,

Brenda Marie Fluharty

  1. This poem beautifully captures the quiet, gentle nature of healing—how it unfolds through patience, self-compassion, and forgiveness. The imagery of a “tender tide” and “quiet light” reminds us that healing isn’t forceful but a gradual, loving process. A touching reminder to soften and allow grace in. 💙
