We come to life with open hands,
Soft hearts built from shifting sands.
The world arrives with sharpened edges—
We learn to love, we build our ledges.
A gentle lie, a cruel goodbye,
The aching truth that makes us cry—
Yet in the fall, the breaking seams
Unravel false and fragile dreams.
We learn that loss is not the end,
But space for something else to mend.
That strength is quiet, not just loud,
And solitude can make us proud.
The mirror shows what we must face—
Not just the smile, but every trace
Of doubt and rage and dark disguise.
We meet ourselves and grow more wise.
The lesson isn’t wrapped in gold,
It doesn’t come while we feel bold.
It whispers when we’re torn apart—
A fierce reshaping of the heart.
For only through the cracks we see
The light that says: you’re finally free.
Not perfect, no—but more complete,
With every scar a deeper beat.
So let us break, and let us learn,
From every twist and every turn.
For in the wreckage, we unbind
The chains that once enclosed the mind.
Thank-you for reading.
Much Love and Light,
Brenda Marie

This poem is a masterful meditation on resilience and self-discovery, weaving pain and growth into a tapestry of hard-won wisdom. Its strength lies in the balance between raw honesty (“doubt and rage and dark disguise”) and lyrical hope (“the light that says: you’re finally free”). The imagery—shifting sands, sharp edges, unraveling seams—captures life’s fragility, while the refrain of breaking, mending, and reshaping mirrors the human journey toward wholeness. A stirring reminder that scars and cracks are not flaws, but proof of living deeply.
