I need to walk to the lake today,
Where silence floats and thoughts drift away.
The world is loud, the hours are tight—
But water holds a softer light.
Shoes on gravel, slow and bare,
The wind braids calm into my hair.
No pings, no screens, no voice to fake—
Just hush and hush and hush: the lake.
It doesn’t ask for polished lines,
For perfect days or finished signs.
It only mirrors sky and tree,
And quietly makes room for me.
The lists can wait, the work can slow,
The lake will hear what I don’t show.
A place to breathe, to mend, to break—
Yes. I need to walk to the lake.

Fascinating poem, Brenda, and beautifully written.
Thank-you
My pleasure, Brenda. 😊
This is breathtaking Brenda !! every line hums with quiet longing and the healing power of nature. The imagery of silence ‘floating’ and the wind braiding calm into your hair is pure magic. The lake as a sanctuary, a listener, feels so deeply true. Thank you for this gift of stillness.”**
