Poem: Need to Be Free

There’s a weight I wear like shadowed skin,
A hush that roars from deep within.
The sky looks down with locked-up eyes—
Even the clouds feel like disguise.

I wasn’t born for silent chains,
For ticking clocks and windowpanes.
There’s something wild beneath my name,
A restless spark I cannot tame.

I need to run where roads forget,
Where sunrise hasn’t broken yet.
To breathe without a measured pace,
To vanish in some open place.

No golden cage, no velvet lie,
No pretty mask to pacify.
Just wind that tears, and stars that scream,
And space enough to chase a dream.

It isn’t hate—it isn’t flight,
It’s hunger howling into night.
A calling deeper than the sea,
Not to escape—but to be free.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
