Poem: Angel by My Side

Dedicated to my beloved grandfather Edward Chapman

In quiet moments, when hope runs thin,
And shadows stretch their arms within,
I feel a warmth I cannot hide—
A whisper soft: an angel by my side.

No wings to see, no halo’s gleam,
Just steady calm within the stream
Of storm and silence, day and night,
A guiding star, a gentle light.

When doubt invades my waking mind,
You bring me strength I couldn’t find.
Through every stumble, fall, and cry,
You lift my gaze back to the sky.

I do not walk this path alone,
Though feet may bleed and hearts may moan.
Your unseen hand is always near,
To wipe each tear, to calm each fear.

You’re not a figure carved in gold,
Nor tale that only children told—
You’re courage wrapped in quiet grace,
A sacred peace I can’t replace.

So when the world feels far too wide,
I lean on you, my unseen guide.
For through the dark, with arms open wide,
I walk this life—an angel by my side.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
