Poem: Finding Balance in the World

In shadows deep and morning light,
Where wrong and right both share the night,
The world turns slow, then spins too fast—
We chase the future, mourn the past.

Between the hush and thunder’s roar,
A quiet truth waits at the door:
That peace is not a gift we’re owed,
But something built, and gently sowed.

The lion rests, the sparrow sings,
The storm bows down to softer things.
In giving up, we sometimes gain—
In holding on, we welcome pain.

A mother weeps, a child will dance,
Both held by fate and circumstance.
The bitter root, the blooming vine—
Each needs the other’s form to shine.

So balance walks on wire thin,
Between the loss and what we win.
Not perfect still, but always near—
A breath, a pause, a moment clear.

And when the world feels harsh or wide,
Seek not to run, but stand inside.
Let light and shadow share your face—
That, too, is part of finding grace.

For we are more than rise and fall,
We are the silence in it all.
Not just the fire or the flame—
But hands that hold them both the same.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. This is a beautifully crafted meditation on duality and acceptance. It speaks to the profound grace found not in choosing sides, but in embracing the whole of existence—the light and shadow, the joy and pain. A quiet and powerful call to find peace within the balance itself.
