I buried her quietly,
the girl I used to be—
no funeral, no flowers,
just silence thick as grief.
She walked in wonder once,
barefoot through every fire,
believed that love was shelter,
and dreams could climb much higher.
Her hands were always open,
her heart a windowpane—
she danced with every heartbreak,
and smiled through all the rain.
But time is not a healer,
it’s a thief that takes in shards,
and she became a casualty
of keeping up her guard.
I miss her when I’m quiet,
when the mirror looks away,
when laughter feels like fiction
and hope forgets to stay.
She wasn’t always gentle,
but she tried her best to grow—
and I, the one who mourns her,
am all she left to show.
So here’s to her in silence,
to the cracks she couldn’t mend—
I grieve her not with weakness,
but with love I’d now defend.
She’s gone, but in her shadow,
I learned to stand and see—
not who I am in sorrow,
but who I choose to be.
