Poem: Discernment

In stillness dwells the wiser mind,
Not swayed by every gust or kind
Of flattery or fearsome call—
It waits, it watches, weighs it all.

While noise and glitter crowd the gate,
Discernment sits and learns to wait.
Not every key unlocks the door,
Not every tide leads to the shore.

It does not chase the loudest voice,
But listens deep, and makes its choice.
Through veils of truth and half-spun lies,
It sees the soul behind the guise.

A friend or foe? A path or pit?
Discernment walks with quiet wit.
It knows that not all good is gold,
And wisdom isn’t always bold.

It asks not just “What can I do?”
But “What is just? What is most true?”
A compass born of heart and flame,
That points beyond mere praise or blame.

So let the world rush on and spin—
Discernment finds the truth within.
A lantern lit in shadowed lands,
It guides with slow, unwavering hands.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
