Poem: Been There, Done That

I’ve walked the road you’re walking now,
Felt the sweat upon my brow.
Chased the thrill, then let it go,
Wore the smile, endured the blow.

I’ve danced in rooms where dreams ignite,
Then watched them vanish overnight.
Spoke the truth, and told a lie,
Built a bridge, then let it die.

I’ve kissed beneath the neon glow,
Loved too fast, and moved too slow.
I’ve stayed too long, I’ve left too soon,
Slept through dawns and wasted noons.

The peaks I climbed, the depths I sank,
Gave all I had, and broke the bank.
I’ve seen the curtain, played my part,
Felt the echo in my heart.

So when you say, “You wouldn’t get,”
I smile and nod—been there, done that.
The scars I carry don’t scream loud,
But they’re enough to make me proud.

I’ve lived enough to understand,
That every fall still helps you stand.
So go ahead, make your own track—
Just know I’ve been there…
And I came back.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
