I once searched light in others’ eyes,
A mirror made of shifting skies—
Their warmth, a sun I thought I lacked,
Their silence left my spirit cracked.
I bent and broke to fit the mold,
Chased praise like pennies dropped in gold.
But every nod, each hollow cheer,
Just echoed back my deepest fear.
Until the day the quiet came,
No need for mirrors, masks, or name.
I sat with self—no need to flee—
And found a friend inside of me.
The voice once drowned by doubt and noise
Now whispered truth in softened voice:
“You are enough, through dark and dawn—
No need to chase, you’ve always shone.”
So now I walk with steady grace,
No race to win, no mask to face.
I carry love within my chest—
A quiet flame that knows me best.
No longer lost, no need to roam—
I’ve built my heart a steady home.
Not seeking less, not needing more—
Just loving me, my truest core.
