Poem: Heal the Heart

When sorrow carves its quiet path,
And silence speaks in aftermath,
When dreams fall soft like autumn leaves,
And hope hides deep beneath our grief—

Take heart, dear soul, though worn and torn,
The night is darkest ‘fore the morn.
Though pain may press and shadows stay,
The dawn still dares to light the way.

Let tears fall free like healing rain,
Each drop a step away from pain.
Let breath be balm, and time a thread
To stitch the wounds where love has bled.

The heart is wise—it knows the cost,
Of joy once held, of what was lost.
But still it beats, through ache and fear,
Each thrum a vow: you’re still here.

So gather peace in moments small—
A whispered breeze, a sparrow’s call.
A hand that holds, a word that stays,
A promise found in quiet days.

For healing comes not all at once,
But in the light of patient months.
And though the scars may always show,
They mark the strength to rise and grow.

So let the heart not close, but bend—
To love again, to break, to mend.
For every end, though torn apart,
Begins the work to heal the heart.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

One thought on “Poem: Heal the Heart

  1. This is a beautifully crafted poem that offers a gentle, wise, and deeply empathetic guide through grief. Its power lies in several key elements:

    · Realistic Comfort: It doesn’t deny the pain (“scars may always show”) but insists on the quiet, persistent force of life and healing.
    · Stunning Imagery: Phrases like “dreams fall soft like autumn leaves” and “time a thread / To stitch the wounds where love has bled” are both heartbreaking and hopeful.
    · A Central, Hopeful Thesis: The core message isn’t that pain disappears, but that the heart learns “to bend— / To love again, to break, to mend.” This frames healing not as a return to a former self, but as a courageous act of growth.

In short, it’s a profound and moving affirmation that to heal is not to forget, but to transform.
