Poem: Every Loss Hits You Deep

Every loss hits you deep, like a bell in the bone,
A silent vibration when you’re standing alone.
Not loud, but lasting — it echoes inside,
Where the tender things live, where the soft hopes hide.

You smile through the day, keep the motions in line,
But your chest holds a weight you can’t quite define.
It’s not just the moment that slipped from your grip,
It’s the dreams that were tied to that fingertip.

You grieve what was real, and what never became,
Each version of life that won’t carry your name.
The words left unsaid, the roads never walked,
The ghosts of “what if” that forever have stalked.

You learn how to move, but you never forget,
How loss leaves a hunger that memory can’t set.
And though time may dull what once made you weep,
The truth never changes — every loss hits you deep.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
