Poem: What We Leave Behind

We leave behind the morning light,
Soft footprints fading in the dew,
A laugh that echoes out of sight,
A whispered truth no one quite knew.

We leave a room, a book half-read,
The scent of rain, the hush of trees,
A silent prayer, the words unsaid,
The warmth we gave with quiet ease.

We leave behind the songs we hummed,
The little acts we thought were small,
The doors we opened, tears that numbed,
The moments when we gave our all.

Not gold, nor fame, nor grand design,
But love in traces gently spread—
In stories told beyond our time,
We live within the lives we’ve led.

So let us walk with mindful grace,
Each step a gift, each word a seed—
For what we leave is not our face,
But how we made another’s need.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
