Poem: Let Go and Move On

There comes a time when holding tight
Turns sunlight cold, makes day to night.
The hands that clutch what once was dear
Find only echoes, not what’s here.

The past will whisper, soft and low,
Of things you wanted, used to know.
But peace begins where grasping ends,
Where heavy hearts learn how to bend.

Let go—release the weight, the ache,
The chains you forged with each heartbreak.
You cannot sail with anchor down;
You cannot rise while looking down.

So bless the road that brought you here,
And face the dawn without your fear.
The world is wide, the path is clear—
Move on, and let your soul steer.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. This is a powerful and beautifully crafted poem about the necessity of letting go.

Its central theme is liberation through release. The poem argues that clinging to the past, whether it’s relationships, dreams, or pain, is a form of self-imprisonment that obscures the present and prevents forward movement.

The imagery is striking: clutching hands find only “echoes,” an anchor prevents sailing, and looking down prevents rising. The poem’s structure moves logically from identifying the problem (holding on) to the solution (letting go) and finally to the promise of a “wide world” and a “clear path” that awaits.

Ultimately, it’s a compassionate call to action, encouraging the reader to find peace not in the past, but in the present moment and the courage to move forward.
