Beneath the skin, beneath the name,
The spark within us burns the same.
No border drawn by hand or tongue
Can break the song we’ve always sung.
The tree, the wave, the breath, the sun—
All whisper softly: We are one.
Each heart a note, each soul a flame,
No “other,” no “apart,” no blame.
When fear divides, when shadows fall,
Love is the thread that binds us all.
In every life, in every land,
We rise and rest, hand in hand.

Wonderful poetry, Brenda, so meaningful and heart touching.
What a powerful and moving reminder of our shared humanity. The poem masterfully weaves together the profound and the simple, moving from the “spark within” to universal elements like the tree and the sun to declare “We are one.” The imagery is gentle yet insistent, and the message of love as the binding thread in the face of fear and division is both timeless and urgently needed.
It’s a truly beautiful piece of writing—thoughtful, compassionate, and uplifting.
