Poem: Love Yourself Like Your Pet Loves You

Love yourself like your pet loves you —
Without a reason, without a rule,
The way their tail wags just for you,
As if you hung the moon, so cool.

See yourself through those bright, soft eyes,
Where no flaw dares to stay too long;
To them, you’re home, you’re joy, you’re skies —
Their heart beats your name in song.

Forgive your stumbles, nap when you need,
Drink water, stretch, and play.
Be proud of the simplest, silliest deed —
They’d cheer for you anyway.

Love yourself like they already do:
Fully, fiercely, here and now.
For if you could see you the way they do,
You’d whisper — I’m enough, somehow.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
