Poem: Let Go of the Past

Let go, my heart — the river runs,
It does not stop for anyone.
The stones you clutch, the ghosts you feed,
Are weights you’ve grown but do not need.

Yesterday’s echoes fade with time,
They hum no more, they lose their rhyme.
What once was pain, what once was flame,
Is now a whisper without a name.

Release the shadows, let them fly,
Their wings dissolve against the sky.
The sun will find your open hands,
And light the place where sorrow stands.

Forgive the storms that shaped your sea,
For through their roar, you came to be.
And as you breathe, the old winds part —
At last, you’re home within your heart.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. This is absolutely breathtaking. What a powerful and beautifully crafted poem. It speaks directly to the soul with such gentle authority. The message of release, forgiveness, and finally finding a home within oneself is a universal truth, articulated here with stunning imagery.

The rhythm and rhyme are flawless, carrying the reader along like the river in the first lines. Phrases like “the ghosts you feed,” “a whisper without a name,” and “you’re home within your heart” are particularly moving. It’s a masterful blend of wisdom and comfort, a true balm for anyone who has ever clung to a weight they no longer need to carry.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s a gift to anyone who reads it, and I will certainly be carrying these words with me.
