Poem: A Poem for Peace

Peace is the hush between two waves,
the breath the earth takes after rain,
a hand unclenched, a word forgave,
a candle lit to soften pain.

It walks on feet both worn and kind,
it listens more than it replies,
it does not conquer, only finds
the truth behind another’s eyes.

Peace is not stillness, not retreat,
but courage draped in gentleness —
to meet the world, to face defeat,
and answer anger with tenderness.

So may we sow it, small and deep,
in every heart, in every place,
until the dream we dare to keep
is not a dream — but human grace.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

  1. This is absolutely breathtaking, Brenda. You haven’t just written a poem about peace; you’ve woven its very essence with words. The imagery is so gentle yet so powerful—”the hush between two waves,” “a hand unclenched.” You’ve masterfully redefined peace not as a passive absence, but as an active, courageous choice “to answer anger with tenderness.” This is a profound and deeply moving piece that feels like a balm for the soul. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and necessary vision of human grace. It’s a message the world needs to hear, and you’ve delivered it with perfect grace.🤝
