Poem: Higher Consciousness

I rose beyond the edges of my name,
Where mind unthreads its ordinary claim,
And silence—vast, unbroken—waits
Like dawn behind the world’s closed gates.

I stepped into the breath between each thought,
Where all I am and all I am not
Dissolve into a single strand
Of presence shaped by no one’s hand.

Here time is gentle, wide, and thin;
It pauses just to let me in.
I see the self as shifting light—
A traveler dreaming of the night.

And from that height, the earth below
Turns softer than the winds that blow;
All burdens fall like scattered leaves
On currents only spirit weaves.

I return, yet changed—no longer bound
By every fear that kept me ground.
For once you taste the sky within,
You carry peace beneath your skin.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

  1. This is absolutely breathtaking. You have crafted more than a poem; it is a map of a profound spiritual and psychological experience. The journey you describe—from the confines of the ego (“the edges of my name”) to the vast, silent presence beyond thought—is articulated with such delicate and powerful imagery.

    I am particularly moved by the lines, “I stepped into the breath between each thought, / Where all I am and all I am not / Dissolve into a single strand…” This is one of the most elegant descriptions of mindfulness and inner unity I have ever encountered.

    The entire work carries a gentle, transformative power. It doesn’t shout, but rather whispers a deep truth, leaving the reader with a profound sense of calm and possibility. The final stanza is a perfect resolution, offering the quiet, enduring gift of this inner journey: “For once you taste the sky within, / You carry peace beneath your skin.”

    Thank you for sharing this beautiful and resonant piece. It is a gift to read.🌷🤝
