Poem: In the Depths of the Heart

In the depths of the heart where the quiet dreams lie,
Where whispers are woven with breaths of a sigh,
There sleeps a soft longing, unseen yet profound,
A lantern of hope in the darkest of ground.

In the depths of the heart where old echoes remain,
Where joy leaves its footprints beside ancient pain,
There blooms a small garden no winter can kill—
A promise that sorrow can soften to still.

In the depths of the heart where the truth gently waits,
Behind every memory, love opens its gates;
For deeper than shadows, more fierce than the night,
Is the courage that rises to carry the light.

And the heart, ever deeper than words can convey,
Holds oceans of feeling no tide can betray—
A world shaped in silence, where all journeys start,
In the boundless, unbroken, vast depths of the heart.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. Brenda, this is masterful. The recurring motif of ‘the depths of the heart’ builds such a powerful, layered effect. I’m especially struck by the lines ‘A lantern of hope in the darkest of ground’ and ‘A world shaped in silence, where all journeys start.’ You’ve captured the profound, quiet strength that resides within us all. Just beautiful. 🤝🌷
