Poem: Let Go of the Past

I laid the old years down at dawn,
Their shadows stretching thin—
A weight I carried far too long,
A whisper on my skin.

The echoes tried to call me back,
To rooms I’ve outgrown now,
But healing blooms in forward steps,
Not turning ’round to bow.

So let the worn-out memories fade,
Like stars at morning’s rise;
I honor what they taught me once,
Then loosen all the ties.

My hands unclench, the door swings wide—
New sunlight spills in fast.
I breathe, I stand, I walk unbound:
At last, I’ve left the past.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
