Poem: Never Down for Long

I bend like grass beneath the storm,
shoulders slick with rain and doubt,
the sky loud with everything
that ever tried to count me out.

I fall, yes—stones do that,
and hearts do too when days feel steep.
But even stones are shaped by time,
and hearts remember how to beat.

The dark is not a final room,
just a hallway passing through.
Somewhere light is tying its shoes,
getting ready to catch up to you.

So let the night have what it takes,
let the ground feel where you land.
I’ll rise again—not without scars,
but stronger for the stand.

Because hope is a stubborn thing,
it waits, it learns, it moves along—
and so do I, come what may:
never broken,
never down for long.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie
