Poem: The Science of Magic

Magic wears a lab coat in the dark,
Counts its miracles one by one—
A spark becomes a measured spark,
A mystery learns how it’s done.

Atoms dance to unseen rules,
Old equations hum like spells,
Numbers whisper in dusty schools
What the crystal ball never tells.

Gravity bends, time runs slow,
Light decides to act alive,
Reality admits what it knows:
Impossible things can arrive.

A thought becomes a working plan,
A dream turns into design,
Hands and minds remake the span
Between “someday” and “mine.”

So call it magic if you must—
Wonder dressed in truth and fact,
The science born of curious trust
That asks why… and answers act.

Thank-you for reading.

Remember there are many paths back to God.

Follow your own path,

Brenda Marie

  1. This is a lovely piece, Brenda. You’ve perfectly captured the quiet awe at the heart of discovery—the way science doesn’t dispel the magic of the universe, but simply gives us a new, more intimate language to describe it. The imagery of the lab coat in the dark and the measured spark is wonderful. Lovely work. 🌷🤝

    1. Thank you so much for this generous reflection. It means a great deal to me that the sense of wonder came through—that’s exactly the feeling I hoped to honor. I’ve always believed that science doesn’t diminish mystery; it invites us closer to it.

I’m especially glad the image of the lab coat in the dark resonated with you. That “measured spark” feels, to me, like the truest expression of curiosity—careful, luminous, and still full of awe.

Your words truly encourage me. 🌷
