Poem: Walk Your Own Path

Walk your own path of light,
even when the road bends into shadow—
even when voices gather like fog
and try to name your direction for you.

There is a quiet compass in your chest,
a steady pulse that does not shout
but hums—soft, certain—
whenever you are near what is true.

Follow that.

Not the footprints worn deep
by those who feared the dark,
not the bright noise of crowded avenues
where dreams are traded for approval—
but the narrow, flickering trail
that feels like both risk and home.

You were not made to echo.
You were made to arrive—
in your own time,
in your own shape of becoming.

And yes, there will be nights
when your light feels small,
when doubt leans close and whispers
that you are lost.

You are not lost.

A single flame still breaks the dark.
A single step still becomes a journey.

So walk—
with courage stitched into your breath,
with wonder tucked beneath your ribs,
with the stubborn belief
that your light, however fragile,
is enough to lead you forward.

And one day, without realizing when,
you will look behind you
and see a glowing trail—
not borrowed, not given,
but made—
entirely—by you.

Thank-you for reading.

  1. What a beautiful and empowering poem, Brenda. Your words feel like a gentle hand on the shoulder and a steady light in the chest—reminding us that the truest path is the one we listen for, not the one we’re told to walk. Thank you for this quiet, courageous gift.🌷🤝

    1. Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. I’m deeply touched that the poem resonated with you in such a meaningful way. Your reflection captures exactly the spirit I hoped to share—that quiet inner knowing we all carry. I’m grateful it found its way to you. 🌷
