Poem: Gratitude for Cherished Memories

The years have gathered quietly,
Like autumn leaves in golden streams,
Carrying laughter through the seasons,
And fragments of forgotten dreams.

I am grateful for the mornings
That arrived with hopeful light,
For every hand that held mine steady,
For every star that filled the night.

I treasure roads I’ve wandered down,
The voices that have come and gone,
The fleeting moments once unnoticed
That linger gently and live on.

Some memories shine bright with joy,
Some ache with lessons time has taught,
Yet each one stitched a thread within me,
Becoming part of every thought.

So I look back not with longing,
But with thanks for what has been—
For every chapter, every heartbeat,
For all the places I have been.

The past remains a quiet garden,
Blooming softly in my mind,
And I am grateful for its beauty,
For the gifts it left behind.

Thank-you for reading.

  1. What a beautiful, heartfelt poem, Brenda. Your words capture the gentle passage of time and the quiet grace of gratitude so perfectly. The imagery of autumn leaves, a quiet garden, and memories stitched like threads into our thoughts—it all flows with such warmth and honesty. I especially love how you turn looking back not into longing, but into thankfulness. That’s a gift in itself. Thank you for sharing this piece of your heart.
