Poem: Surrender

In the quiet hours of dusk’s embrace,
When shadows whisper secrets soft and deep,
There comes a moment, gentle as a trace,
To let the heart in silence start to weep.

Beneath the weight of dreams and fierce demands,
When weary hopes have crumbled into dust,
We find the strength to open empty hands,
And yield to life, in trembling, tender trust.

To surrender is to lay the burden down,
To offer up the struggle and the fight,
To trade the heavy crown for grace’s gown,
And find a solace in the fading light.

It’s not a loss, but freedom’s quiet grace,
A letting go of all the things we own,
In surrender, we discover a new space—
A place where we are cherished, not alone.

So as the stars emerge in twilight’s hue,
And peace descends like rain on parched, dry land,
Embrace the stillness, let the old give way,
And surrender gently, with an open hand.

Thank-you for reading,

Much Love and light,

Brenda Marie

  1. That’s beautiful, Brenda! I appreciate your offering us this poem. I don’t always like the word surrender, but I love the way you describe it here. Especially, laying your burdens down.
