The sun dipped behind the jagged mountains as Kael, a weary wanderer, stumbled upon a forgotten village nestled in a hollow. The air was thick with quiet mystery, but the wind—oh, the wind—was alive, swirling through the narrow streets, carrying with it faint whispers that seemed to beckon him forward.
Curiosity tugged at his bones. He followed the breeze, its soft murmurs brushing against his ears like a lover’s breath, words he couldn’t quite catch. The villagers, though few, moved slowly, their expressions serene, as if they were lost in some secret communion. He watched an old woman smile faintly to herself as the wind tousled her hair. A boy, eyes closed, stood still in the square, listening.
“Do you hear it?” asked a voice behind him.
Kael turned to see a man with kind, weathered eyes, his face etched with years of wandering.
“The wind?” Kael asked, uncertain.
The man nodded. “The whispers. They carry the wisdom of sages long gone. Each hears a different message—one meant only for them. It guides us, shows us the way.”
Kael frowned. “I’ve heard nothing.”
“Ah, but you’ve just arrived. The wind speaks when you are ready to listen.”
Unsure what to believe, Kael found a quiet corner by a crumbling stone wall and sat, letting the evening air envelop him. Slowly, the wind picked up, dancing through the trees and alleys, carrying its gentle murmur with it. At first, it was unintelligible, like the rustling of leaves. But then, a single word surfaced—home.
He stiffened. The word echoed in his chest like a drumbeat.
The whispers grew, spinning around him in a spiral of sound, teasing him with fragments of forgotten truths and hidden desires. Find your roots. Stop running. Home is within.
His heart raced. He had wandered for years, searching for something, anything, to fill the emptiness inside him. But maybe he had been running all along—from himself, from his pain, from the truth.
The wind quieted, leaving only silence and the soft patter of his breath. Kael exhaled, feeling lighter, as if a weight had been lifted from his soul.
Rising, he glanced once more at the villagers, understanding now the peace in their eyes. The wind had spoken to him, too, guiding him toward something he had always known but never dared to face.
With newfound clarity, Kael turned and walked toward the horizon, not away from his past, but toward the home he had carried within all along.
And behind him, the wind whispered its timeless wisdom, guiding the next soul who was ready to listen.
Thank-you for reading.
Much Love and Light,
