Guided Meditation: Staying Calm
Find a comfortable space:
Begin by finding a quiet, comfortable space where you can sit or lie down. Allow your body to relax into the surface beneath you. Gently close your eyes, and let your hands rest comfortably in your lap or by your sides.
Take a deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. Slowly exhale through your mouth, releasing any tension you may be holding. Feel the air entering and leaving your body, grounding you in this present moment.
Bring Awareness to Your Breath:
Now, shift your focus to your breath. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest with each inhale and exhale. You don’t need to change your breathing, simply observe it. Inhale… and exhale… Let each breath be slow and steady, soothing you deeper into relaxation.
With every exhale, imagine you are releasing any stress, worry, or tension. Feel your body soften with each breath. Inhale calm, exhale any tightness.
Relax Your Body:
Now, bring your awareness to your body. Begin at the top of your head. Imagine a warm, gentle wave of relaxation flowing down, releasing any tension in your scalp, your forehead, and your face. Let your eyes soften, and feel your jaw unclenching.
Allow this wave of relaxation to move down to your neck and shoulders. Let your shoulders drop and relax, as if a heavy burden is being lifted. Release any tightness there, letting your body grow heavier, more relaxed with every breath.
Continue this wave of relaxation down your arms, to your hands, and fingers. Let go of any remaining tension as your body continues to soften.
Now, bring your attention to your chest and abdomen. With each breath, imagine your chest becoming light, open, and free. Your stomach is calm and at ease, gently expanding and contracting with each peaceful breath.
As the wave of relaxation flows down through your hips, thighs, knees, and calves, allow your legs to feel grounded and relaxed. Your feet are warm, at peace, and completely supported by the earth beneath you.
Cultivate Calmness:
Now, imagine a serene, peaceful place. It could be a beach, a quiet forest, or a peaceful room—whatever feels calming to you. Visualize yourself in this space. Feel the calm energy around you. Perhaps you hear soft sounds, like the gentle lapping of waves or the rustle of leaves in the breeze.
Allow yourself to sit in this peaceful place for a moment, soaking in the tranquility. With every breath, you feel more relaxed, more at ease. The outside world melts away, leaving only peace and calmness within you.
Affirmations for Calmness:
In your mind, gently repeat the following affirmations. You can say them silently or aloud, letting the words sink deeply into your being:
- “I am calm, grounded, and at peace.”
- “I am capable of handling whatever comes my way.”
- “I release all stress and allow calmness to fill my body and mind.”
- “With every breath, I grow more peaceful and centered.”
- “I trust in the present moment, and I am at ease.”
Return to the Present Moment:
Take a few more deep breaths, feeling the calmness you’ve cultivated within you. Gently bring your awareness back to the room around you. Begin to notice the sounds and sensations of the space. When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes, carrying with you a sense of inner peace and calm.
Remember, you can return to this place of stillness whenever you need. Take this feeling of peace with you into the rest of your day, knowing you have the ability to stay calm in every moment.
End of Meditation.
