
Guided Meditation: Freeing Yourself from Pain
Take a moment to find a quiet space, a place where you can sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes, and begin to settle into the rhythm of your breath. Feel the weight of your body against the ground, as if you’re sinking into the earth, supported and safe.
Inhale deeply…
Feel the air filling your lungs, expanding your chest, your belly. Hold for just a second… and then exhale slowly—let the tension drift out with the breath. With each inhale, imagine you’re drawing in calmness, and with each exhale, you’re releasing all heaviness, all discomfort, all thoughts of pain.
Take a few more breaths like this…
In… and out…
In… and out…
Now, bring your awareness to the space around you. Feel the air against your skin. Imagine it is warm and gentle, like a soft embrace. Let this warmth spread, beginning at your feet. Feel it slowly rise, traveling up your legs, over your knees, through your hips, and up to your chest. As it moves, it carries away any tension, any tightness, any discomfort.
Let this warm sensation reach your shoulders, your arms, your hands…
Feel your body melting into a deep state of relaxation. There is no rush, no hurry. Just this moment. Just this breath.
Now, bring your awareness to the pain, if you feel it. See if you can locate it—whether it’s physical, emotional, or mental. Don’t judge it. Just notice it. Accept it as part of you in this moment. Let it be without resistance, without trying to push it away.
And now, imagine this: with every breath, a light begins to glow within you. At first, it’s soft, gentle—a warm, golden light. This light is healing. It is the energy of peace, of wholeness. With each inhale, the light grows brighter, stronger, more vibrant.
Picture this light now beginning to move towards the place where you feel pain. With each breath, the light moves deeper into that space, surrounding it, gently softening it. Feel it dissolving the tension, soothing the ache. See the pain becoming lighter, smaller, until it begins to fade, like mist evaporating in the sun.
Now, envision the light spreading out, beyond the pain, through your whole body—filling every cell, every muscle, every fiber with warmth, with peace, with ease. Let this golden light fill you completely. There is no room for pain here—only healing, only calm.
And as this light fills you, remind yourself:
I am not my pain. I am whole. I am free.
With every breath, allow that truth to sink deeper into your being. Feel it in your heart, in your mind, in the very essence of who you are. You are more than your struggles. You are more than the moments of pain.
Take a few moments now, in silence, to bask in this healing light. Let it wash over you. Let it fill every corner of your being with peace and release.
When you’re ready, begin to bring your awareness back to the room around you. Wiggle your fingers, your toes. Gently stretch your body, knowing that you carry this sense of freedom with you.
Remember, you can always return to this place, whenever you need, and you can always call upon the light within you to help release what no longer serves you. You are free. You are whole. You are at peace.
Take one more deep, a calming breath…
And when you’re ready, slowly open your eyes.
