Poem: Trapped in a World Outside of You

Trapped in a world outside of you,
Where echoes stretch and skies are blue,
I search the spaces between each sound,
In shadows deep, yet I’m unbound.

The wind whispers tales I cannot hear,
The stars above feel distant, unclear,
I reach for moments that slip away,
Fading like dusk to break of day.

Faces pass, but none look through,
Each heartbeat echoes, far and few,
I’m woven tight in this threadbare seam,
A ghost, a thought, a distant dream.

The world outside keeps calling me,
A dance, a drift on endless sea,
Yet still I stand, caught in the hue,
Of being close but far from you.

And though I search, and though I roam,
I know the truth that’s carved in stone—
The world outside can never see,
The world inside, where you are free.

Thank-you for reading.

Much Love and Light,

Brenda Marie Fluharty
